The Position

We are seeking a Consultant Urological Surgeon to join a well-established and expanding urology service on a fixed-term basis (3 years), commencing ASAP. You will be part of a collaborative team of four experienced urologists, supported by registrars (including a SET trainee) and a clinical nurse specialist.
The role includes operating across main theatres and day procedure units, outpatient clinics, and participation in statewide urology services, including satellite work. There is a strong focus on teaching, supervision of junior medical staff, multidisciplinary collaboration, and involvement in quality improvement and research activities.
Subspecialty interests are encouraged, with female urology and robotic experience highly regarded.
Health Service

The service provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service to a population of approximately 300,000 across North and North-West Tasmania, including statewide subspecialist care. You will have access to modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment and work within a highly supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Located in Launceston in the Tamar Valley, this is one of Australia's most liveable regional cities. Launceston is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy with a vibrant arts and cultural scene, and offers convenient access to mainland Australia, with Melbourne just a short 45-minute flight away.
Essential Criteria





Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
FRACS (Urology) or equivalent (desirable)
Ability to participate in on-call roster and statewide service delivery
Commitment to teaching, supervision, and multidisciplinary care
The Package

Fixed term, 3-year appointment (ASAP start)
Visiting Medical Specialist salary: $254,149 – $445,341 p.a. (pro rata) + 12% super
Urology Specialist Allowance up to $110,000 p.a. (pro rata)
Relocation and commencement support up to $15,000
Access to salary packaging
Flexible engagement options (Visiting Medical Specialist or Staff Specialist, hours negotiable)
