Dive In Swimming Academy is looking for a patient, dependable and experienced person to join our Aquababies and Early Years - Future Learn To Swim Teacher Pathway.This role is ideal for someone with at least five years' experience working with babies, young children or families who would like to develop into a qualified Learn to Swim Teacher.Previous swim-school experience is not required.
We are looking for someone who can build trust with children, communicate confidently with parents and create warm, positive experiences in the water.You will begin by assisting qualified teachers while completing Dive In's practical mentoring pathway.
You will also be expected to complete the external Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher course and progress towards teaching your own classes within an appropriate timeframe.This is a teacher development position, not an ongoing assistant-only role.About the RoleWorking in the water alongside experienced teachers, you will support babies, toddlers and young children as they build water confidence, develop foundational swimming skills and become more independent in the water.Your role will include actively engaging with children, supporting lesson activities, helping children feel safe and confident, communicating positively with parents and caregivers, and learning from experienced teachers through hands-on mentoring.Your responsibilities will include:Supporting Aquababies and early-level lessonsHelping children feel comfortable, confident and engaged,
building their confidence in the waterCreating positive bonding experiences for children and their parents or caregiversResponding calmly and reassuringly when a child feels nervous or needs extra encouragementCommunicating with parents about their child's progressEducating families about water safetyAssisting with lesson activities, equipment and class flowReceiving coaching and applying feedback to build your teaching skillsLearning and following Dive In's teaching approachWhat We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have:At least five years' experience working with babies, young children or familiesA patient, calm and reassuring mannerA natural ability to connect with childrenConfidence communicating with parents and caregiversThe ability to guide and reassure families throughout their child's swimming journeyReliability and commitment to agreed rostered shiftsA willingness to learn, receive feedback and develop current skillsA confident and safe swimming abilityCurrent Working With Children CheckCurrent CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Relevant experience may have been gained through childcare, education, health, family services, sport, customer service or volunteeringPrevious swimming teacher experience is not required.AvailabilityAvailable shifts may include:Weekday mornings: approximately 9:00am–12:00pmWeekday afternoons: approximately 3:30pm–6:30pmSaturdays: approximately 7:30am–12:00pmSunday's: approximately 8:00am–11:00amWeekday-morning availability will be highly regarded due to the needs of our Aquababies and early-years programs.All shifts are offered according to operational needs, availability and rostering requirements.Want to find out more of what we do, check out our website: about-us/
