My client is a Big Four consulting firm, looking for a hands-on GCP data architect to join their Data & AI practice.
You'll lead the design and delivery of enterprise scale data platforms built on BigQuery, dbt and Airflow, shaping cloud data warehouses and ELT pipelines that are reliable, scalable and easy for teams to actually use.
You'll also have a seat at the table shaping governance, security, performance and cost optimisation on Google Cloud.
This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who wants influence, not just execution.
What you'll be doing:
Leading architecture decisions across GCP native data platformsSetting dbt standards, reusable models and testing/deployment practicesGuiding teams on SQL, data modelling and modern architecture patternsPartnering with business and tech stakeholders on governance, security, performance and cost
What you'll need:




5+ years in data architecture, engineering or cloud data platform designAdvanced SQL, robust hands-on BigQuery experience at scaleProven delivery of enterprise scale GCP data solutionsDeep dbt experience - modelling, ELT, testing, docs, CI/CDStrong BigQuery, dbt and Airflow build/automation experienceExposure to Dataflow, Data Fusion, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Vertex AIStrong Python skills for scalable data solutionsGCP certifications (Professional Cloud Architect / Data Engineer) highly regarded
This is an initial 6 month Contract role, with possibility of extension.
Candidates must be Sydney based, and have full working rights.
Ideally you are available for an immediate start!
