Early Childhood Educator – Community Services Experience Highly DesirableEarly Childhood Educator | Trauma-Informed Early Years ProgramCasual | Hawthorne, Brisbane | Wednesday - Friday Availability EssentialAbout the OpportunityProCare Australia is seeking experienced and compassionate Early Childhood Educators to support a specialist Early Years Program in Hawthorne.Our client delivers an Early Years Program for families residing in temporary crisis accommodation.
The service supports children and parents who may be experiencing the effects of trauma, homelessness, family disruption and uncertainty, helping to create positive early childhood experiences and strengthen family wellbeing.We're looking for educators who understand that for children experiencing homelessness, trauma and family disruption, an Early Years workplace can provide much more than education and care.
Safety, consistency, connection and trusted relationships matter.The role involves providing support to women and children who may have experienced domestic and family violence.
Being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (Qld).
This is not a traditional childcare service.The program operates within a highly trauma-informed environment and supports children and families experiencing significant vulnerability.
We are therefore looking for educators who bring more than solid early childhood practice – you will need to be confident building relationships, recognising safeguarding concerns, supporting emotional regulation and responding sensitively to children who have experienced significant trauma and instability.Availability RequirementApplicants must have regular availability across:We are particularly interested in educators who can provide consistent availability, as continuity and relationship-building are important when supporting children who have experienced disruption and instability.What You'll Be DoingWorking alongside the existing team,



you will help create a safe, predictable and nurturing environment where children can participate, develop and build positive relationships.Your responsibilities may include:Providing high-quality, trauma-informed early childhood education and careBuilding safe, consistent and trusting relationships with childrenSupporting children experiencing trauma, instability and significant vulnerabilitySupporting emotional regulation and responding appropriately to challenging behavioursSupporting children with developmental delays, additional needs and communication difficulties, including non-verbal childrenCreating inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning experiencesRecognizing and responding appropriately to child protection and safeguarding concernsBuilding respectful relationships with parents and families experiencing complex circumstancesWorking collaboratively with Early Years and Community Services professionalsMaintaining appropriate documentation and professional recordsFollowing all child safeguarding, workplace and service policies and proceduresThe Experience We're Looking ForIn addition to your Early Childhood Education experience, we are particularly interested in educators with experience in one or more of the following areas:Trauma-informed practiceChild protection or safeguardingSupporting vulnerable children and familiesSupporting children with developmental delaysEmotional regulation and challenging behavioursFamily support or intensive family supportCommunity ServicesChild ProtectionResidential or out-of-home careTherapeutic care or other human services environmentsA qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, Family Services or a related human services discipline is also highly regarded but is not essential.Mandatory RequirementsTo be considered, you must hold:ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Education and Care qualificationCurrent Blue CardCurrent First Aid & CPRCurrent Food Safety CertificateMinimum 12 months' experience working within an early childhood settingStrong understanding of the EYLF, NQF, child safeguarding and child protectionStrong verbal and written communication skillsAvailability Wednesday to Friday, 8:00am–3:30pmHighly RegardedAsthma TrainingAnaphylaxis TrainingAdditional Community Services or human services qualificationsWhat ProCare OffersCompetitive casual hourly rates from $*****–$43+ per hour, depending on qualifications and experience12% superannuationWeekly payOngoing casual opportunitiesSupport from an experienced Community Services and Early Childhood recruitment teamPotential access to other suitable opportunities across ProCare's growing ECEC and Community Services workforceWhy ProCare Australia?
