An exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner to join our growing team!
This role will be responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient movement of containers from rail services within the Sydney Container Park to terminals, while planning and executing stack runs for Sydney shipping lines.
The role ensures transfer activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with operational requirements, service level agreements, and regulatory requirements, while optimising fleet utilisation and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.Key AccountabilitiesDevelop and manage daily container transfer plans from rail arrivals to terminal delivery slotsPlan, coordinate and oversee stack runs into and out of the container parkOptimise utilisation of company-owned transport assets and manage subcontractor engagement where requiredSecure and manage Vehicle Booking System (VBS) slots to ensure timely container transfersMonitor transfer activities, resolve operational disruptions, and implement corrective actionsLiaise with rail operations, container park teams, terminals, shipping lines, subcontractors, and customers to ensure seamless service deliveryAnalyse demand patterns, vessel schedules and operational performance data to support planning and continuous improvement initiativesProvide reporting, insights and planning updates to operational leadership and senior managementCoach and provide guidance to allocators while supporting the development of planning processes and toolsQualifications, Skills and ExperienceMinimum 5 years' experience in transport planning, container logistics, supply chain operations, or a related fieldStrong understanding of port, rail, container park and terminal operationsExperience using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
and Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS)Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced operational environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across internal and external partnersSound knowledge or transport, compliance and safety standards within the logistics industryProven ability to analyse operational data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiativesSupporting equalityDP World is committed to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
