Make a meaningful impact in acute adult and older persons mental health.Join a leading multidisciplinary team at Westmead Hospital.Support recovery, discharge planning and community reintegration.Assess, advocate and empower consumers with complex mental health needs while building recovery pathways that support lasting community outcomes.Employment Type: Permanent Full TimePosition Classification: Social Worker Level 1 / Level 2Remuneration: $79,419 - $113,301 per annumHours Per Week: 38Location: Westmead HospitalWhere you'll be workingJoin Western Sydney Local Health District Mental Health Services at Westmead Hospital's Adult and Older Persons Acute Inpatient Mental Health Units, where you'll play a vital role in supporting consumers and carers through some of their most challenging life experiences.As part of a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to a recovery-focused service that delivers compassionate, evidence-based mental health care while supporting consumers to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.Work within one of NSW's largest and most progressive health districtsSupport adult and older persons receiving acute inpatient mental health careCollaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, allied health professionals and community partnersContribute to a culture of innovation, respect, empowerment and teamworkAccess ongoing professional development, supervision and career growth opportunitiesWhat you'll be doingAs a Social Worker Level 1/2, you will provide specialist psychosocial assessment, intervention, advocacy and care coordination for consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental illness.
Working within a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed framework, you will support consumers and carers throughout their inpatient journey,



with a strong focus on discharge planning and successful community reintegration.Deliver comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and evidence-based social work interventions for consumers, families and carersDevelop team-oriented management, recovery and discharge plans alongside consumers, carers and multidisciplinary team membersFacilitate family meetings, case conferences, Mental Health Review Tribunal and Guardianship proceedingsProvide advocacy, education and therapeutic group programs that enhance consumer wellbeing and social functioningMaintain high-quality clinical documentation, contribute to service improvement initiatives and support key mental health outcome measuresJoin us and make a differenceAt Western Sydney Local Health District, you'll be part of a workforce committed to delivering better health services and improving the lives of people across our communities.

membershipSelection CriteriaDemonstrated experience working with adult and older people with complex mental illness and aging issues as a social workerDemonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act **** and NSW Trustees and Guardian Act ****Proven social work experience within a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to provide expert consultancy, education and supervision on clinical issuesDemonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.Effective interpersonal, time management and organisation skills with attention to detail.
Understanding of the management of patient complaints and patient privacyDemonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomesCommitment to clinical supervision of social work staff and studentsCurrent Unrestricted Drivers Licence valid within AustraliaRequisition ID: REQ******Applications Close: 6th September ****Need more information?
