Our People Team works closely with Operations and values structure, good systems, compliance and, importantly, practical hospitality experience.Many of our CSC team members have progressed from frontline café leadership roles, bringing deep operational knowledge and long tenure to the business.This role is currently based at Dôme Midland, with our Café Support Centre relocating to Maylands later in ****.About the RoleReporting to and working closely alongside the Human Resources Manager, you'll be part of a small People Team supporting our company-owned cafés and hotels.This is a broad, hands-on generalist role for someone who enjoys getting things done.
You'll manage recruitment for café and hotel management roles, support managers through day-to-day employee relations matters, manage workers' compensation claims, contribute to HR projects and help ensure the systems, records and processes behind the HR function run well.You'll have plenty of autonomy, but you'll also work closely with an experienced team and with Operations, Payroll, Training and other functions across the business.No two days are particularly alike, so you'll need to be comfortable moving between interviewing a prospective café manager, coaching a manager through a performance issue, reviewing a workers' compensation claim and getting an employment letter or HR process out the door.ResponsibilitiesCoaching and supporting managers through HR processes including performance management, disciplinary matters and grievance investigations, ensuring adherence to organisational policies and legislative requirementsManaging recruitment and interviewing for café and hotel management positionsManaging workers' compensation claims end-to-end, including new and existing claims, liaison with insurers, brokers,



medical providers, Payroll and managers, claims reviews and compliant record keepingCreating, reviewing and maintaining HR policies and proceduresContributing to the ongoing development and improvement of HR systems, projects and programsWorking cross-functionally and collaboratively with other teams including Operations, Training and PayrollAssisting Payroll with employment and HR-related queriesMaintaining accurate HR documentation and recordsGeneral HR administration and the inevitable ad-hoc tasks that come with working in a small, hands-on teamAbout YouWe're looking for someone who is practical, organised and comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment.You'll ideally bring:Experience in a generalist HR, recruitment or HR advisory roleA genuine interest in hospitality and the service industrySound working knowledge of modern awards, the Fair Work framework and contemporary HR practicesStrong organisation skills and excellent attention to detailConfidence handling sensitive and confidential informationStrong verbal and written communication skillsThe confidence to coach managers, have difficult conversations when required and influence both peers and more senior people within the organisationPractical judgement and a willingness to find solutions rather than simply identify problemsThe ability to manage competing priorities and move comfortably between advisory and administrative workExperience in hospitality, retail or another multi-site operational environment will be highly regardedA qualification in Human Resources or a related field will also be highly regardedMost importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys being part of a small team, is happy to take ownership of their work and understands that good HR needs to work in the real world,

We work smart-casual and you'll often need to visit our metro cafés and occasionally regional venues, so a current driver's licence is essential.What started out as a specialty coffee roasting business in the mid-****s has been lovingly nurtured into what we see today - a unique community café experience, known to everyone as Dôme.Three founders - Phil May, Patria Jafferies and Phil Sexton - played a key role in getting the café business off the ground.Before Dôme was born, Mr May was a triple jump Olympian in the ****s, while Ms Jafferies and Mr Sexton were co-founders of the Matilda Bay Brewing Company in Australia.
It was this small group of people and their passion that laid the early foundations which formed the Dôme brand.When Phil May made the decision to move on from his sporting career, he bought this really beautiful French antique roaster in Melbourne and shipped it to Perth and started roasting.
His business, Western Roast Coffee, started supplying Matilda Bay Brewery, where Patria worked and it was then that they dreamed up the idea of the Dôme coffee concept.With Phil May cracking the very first roast on his old machine some 30 years ago, the first Dôme café then opened in **** in Cottesloe.
Fast forward to today and you will find more than 130 Dôme cafés operating in six countries.
