K9 Unit (Dog & Security Officer) - Must have own dogGuardia Risk is seeking an experienced K9 Unit (Dog & Security Officer) to join our security services team in Melbourne, VIC ****.
This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential security services utilising canine units.
As a K9 Unit officer, you will be responsible for deploying your own trained dog alongside professional security protocols to deliver high-quality protection and detection services.
This role is pivotal in maintaining safety and security across our client sites, combining your expertise in dog handling with advanced security knowledge.
The position is based in Melbourne and offers the opportunity to work on diverse assignments on a casual basis.What you'll be doingConducting security patrols and surveillance operations with your trained dog at designated client locationsUtilising canine detection capabilities for threat identification, including explosive and narcotics detection where trainedMaintaining professional security standards whilst effectively managing and controlling your dog in various environmentsResponding to security incidents and providing immediate threat assessment and responseCommunicating effectively with clients, site management and security teams regarding operations and any concerns identifiedMaintaining detailed logs and reports of all security activities, incidents and patrol observationsEnsuring your dog is well-maintained, healthy and fit for operational dutiesAdhering to all security protocols, health and safety regulations,
and animal welfare legislationSupporting other security personnel and contributing to a qualified team environmentWhat we're looking forCurrent or former experience as a security officer or in protective servicesProven experience handling and working with dogs in a professional or operational capacityOwnership of a trained dog suitable for security work, with appropriate temperament, training and certificationsValid security licence or clearance relevant to your jurisdictionStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressureExcellent physical fitness and the ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekendsKnowledge of security protocols, emergency response procedures and threat assessmentCurrent First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)Ability to work independently and as part of a teamA current driver's licence and reliable transportCommitment to animal welfare and responsible dog handling practicesWhat we offerAt Guardia Risk, we value our security professionals and the vital role they play in protecting our clients.
