and lead the personnel of the workshops through effective change and increase efficiency through continual change.Key responsibility areasUndertake remedial actions reported on the plant daily inspection checklist/fault report.Estimate quantities of requisition materials as requiredUndertake advanced maintenance on the plant and equipment including hydraulicsRecommend jobs to outside contractors if unable to complete job in-housePerform risk assessments on new and existing plant and equipmentSetting up and maintaining an electronic Fleet Maintenance ProgramMonitoring workshops stores, including general housekeepingSetting up an inventory computerised systemSetting up Maintenance Bores ProgramResponsible for supervising staff who will from time to time required to assist the Workshop and Stores Maintenance Officer.Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents' skill, competence and training.Qualifications and experienceSkills and knowledge needed for this position are beyond those normally acquired through completion of TAFE certificate or associate diploma alone.Skills and knowledge may be acquired through completion of a degree or diploma course with little or no relevant work experience, or through lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills, or through relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the position.Selection criteriaRelevant qualifications and experience such as a mechanical engineer or heavy diesel mechanic.Ability to interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and develop strong, professional relationships.Ability to prioritise work and manage competing time and resource demands.Demonstrated experience in undertaking plant and equipment maintenance and repairs.Applications close 5pm Sunday 6th September ****Northern Grampians Shire Council is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace.
