As our operations expand, we are seeking a dedicated Truck Driver / Yard Assistant to ensure accurate stock movement, safe material handling, and effective, reliable deliveries across our builder network.

The Opportunity
n
We are looking for a practical, reliable Truck Driver / Yard Assistant to join our operations team in Fyshwick.
n
This dual-purpose role balances local site with hands-on yard and warehouse support. You will be the face of the cooperative on-site, safely offloading timber and building supplies directly to active building sites while ensuring our Fyshwick yard operates cleanly, safely, and efficiently.
n
You will work closely with the Yard Supervisor, Sales Team, and local builders to maintain accurate inventory, operate loading cranes and forklifts, and uphold strict safety standards.

Key Responsibilities + Candidate Profile

Responsibilities
n
Perform safe, timely deliveries of building materials to trade sites across the ACT region.
n
Load and unload transport vehicles using forklifts, HIAB/crane equipment, and proper manual handling techniques.
n
Perform pre-start vehicle and crane equipment checks,



maintaining accurate logbooks and reporting faults.
n
Receive, inspect, store, and dispatch incoming timber and building supplies.
n
Maintain an organised, clean, and safe yard environment adhering to WHS standards.
n
Pick trade customer orders accurately against picking slips.
n
Deliver professional, friendly customer service when dealing with builders, site managers, and trade customers.
n
Candidate Profile
n
Valid MR or HR Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence with a clean driving record.
n
Current Vehicle Loading Crane (CV) High-Risk Work Licence / HIAB certification.
n
Proven experience operating vehicle loading cranes on active delivery sites.
n
Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy vehicle driving and yard/warehouse operations.
n
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS) and load restraint protocols.
n
Punctual, reliable, and physically fit for manual handling duties.
n
Highly Regarded
n
Experience working within the construction, building materials, or hardware trade industries.
n
Strong product knowledge of timber, hardware, and structural building supplies.
n
Prior experience working in a co-op or trade merchant yard environment.
