Purpose of the Role: The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing and structuring complex residential loan files, applying sound credit judgement to scenarios that fall outside standard policy or require careful structuring across multiple lenders.
The role is a key point of contact for other Credit Analysts on complex files, and maintains clear, professional communication with clients and lenders throughout the assessment and submission process.
The Senior Credit Analyst maintains a current, working understanding of the evolving lender policy landscape, translating this knowledge into practical, compliant lending outcomes for clients and brokers, and plays a supporting role in developing Brokerage & Co's credit platform — the resources, scenario guides, and best-practice processes that underpin how the business assesses and structures lending.
Key Responsibilities: Complex File Assessment, Structuring & Policy Knowledge Assess and structure complex residential loan files, including non-standard income, multiple securities, trusts and company structures, and scenarios requiring multi-lender solutions.Analyse servicing, income, and credit history in detail to identify viable lending pathways for files that do not fit standard policy.Select the most appropriate lender and product for complex scenarios, balancing client outcomes, approval likelihood, and turnaround time.Prepare well-structured submissions for complex files that anticipate lender questions and minimise conditions and back-and-forth.Maintain a current, detailed understanding of lender credit policy,
servicing calculators, and product changes across the panel.Monitor the evolving regulatory and policy landscape and assess the practical impact of changes on live and future files.Translate policy changes into clear, practical guidance for the credit and broker teams.
Client & Lender Communication Maintain clear, professional communication with clients on complex files, explaining credit outcomes, conditions, and next steps in plain terms.Keep clients and brokers informed at key milestones throughout the assessment and submission process, particularly on longer-running or sensitive files.Build and maintain strong working relationships with lender BDMs and credit teams to support complex file outcomes and faster resolutions.Liaise directly with lenders on complex scenarios, conditions, and escalations to keep files moving efficiently.
Guidance & Point of Contact for Credit Analysts Act as a first point of contact and technical point of escalation for other Credit Analysts on complex files.Review files prepared by other Credit Analysts and provide constructive feedback to improve structuring, accuracy, and submission quality.Support the onboarding and development of less experienced Credit Analysts, building their capability to handle increasingly complex scenarios independently.Share practical examples and case studies from complex files to build broader team capability.
Quality,
Compliance & Credit Platform Support Ensure all assessments and submissions meet internal quality standards and comply with responsible lending obligations.Identify and escalate recurring errors, policy gaps, or process issues observed across files.Contribute practical input, scenario examples, and feedback to the Head of Credit to support the ongoing development of Brokerage & Co's credit platform, resources, and best-practice documentation.
Qualifications & Experience: 5+ years' experience in credit assessment within mortgage broking or financial services, including exposure to complex residential lending scenarios.Demonstrated experience structuring and successfully settling complex files (non-standard income, trusts, multi-security, multi-lender).
Experience providing technical guidance or informal mentoring to other credit or lending staff.Strong working knowledge of lender policy, servicing calculators, and the residential lending regulatory environment in Australia.Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, business, or a related discipline highly regarded.Relevant industry licences and accreditations (or eligibility to obtain them).
Skills & Attributes: Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement on complex or ambiguous credit scenarios.Ability to explain complex credit and policy concepts clearly to less experienced team members and brokers.Confident, clear communicator with clients and lenders — able to explain outcomes and manage expectations professionally.High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.Curious and current — genuinely engaged with tracking and interpreting lender policy change.Collaborative, approachable style that supports the development of others.
Remuneration: A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, including base salary, superannuation, and performance-based incentives.
