Operations Assistant (6 month fixed term assignment)

An exciting prospect is available for a proactive and motivated Operations Assistant to join the Retail First team on a six-month fixed term contract, initially performing a parental leave temporary replacement assignment and then engaged in further Operations project work, based at one of our shopping centres in North Brisbane.
n
Working alongside an experienced Operations Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day facilities management of a busy retail environment, helping to ensure the centre operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
n

Key Responsibilities
n

Assist with the daily operations of a busy shopping centre
n
Coordinate maintenance, cleaning, security, and other service contractors
n
Conduct site inspections and assist with compliance and safety reporting
n
Manage purchase orders, contractor quotations, and planned maintenance activities
n
Support sustainability initiatives and operational improvement projects
n
Maintain high presentation, safety, and customer service standards across the centre
n
n
About You
n
n
Experience in facilities coordination, maintenance, property operations, or a related trade/service industry
n




An understanding of commercial building maintenance, compliance, and workplace safety
n
Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
n
A proactive, hands‐on approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly
n
A current driver's licence
n
Previous experience in shopping centres, commercial property, or facilities management will be highly regarded but is not essential.
