You will bring extensive technical expertise and a pragmatic approach to software design and architecture. This role combines principal engineering, technical architecture and people leadership, with a strong focus on building outstanding software and solving complex technology challenges.

What We're Looking For:
n

Strong technical background, preferably in Java, with a computer science education or equivalent experience
n
Proven success leading complex engineering initiatives and collaborating effectively across teams
n
Experience building scalable, maintainable and performant web applications within an Agile product setting
n
Strong hands-on coding, system design and code review experience across diverse services and platforms
n
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of an organisation
n
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to simplify and optimise complex processes and evaluate emerging technologies
n
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability, with a focus on developing high-performing engineering teams
n
Strong understanding of code quality, rigorous testing practices and robust security standards
n




Experience partnering with product managers to align engineering initiatives with strategic business objectives
n
Expertise in application reliability, uptime management, incident response and post-mortem analysis
n

What You'll Be Doing:
n
n
Taking technical ownership of products and platforms across design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance
n
Solving complex technical problems through hands-on coding and providing close technical direction to engineering teams
n
Leading system design and making pragmatic architectural decisions across diverse services and platforms
n
Providing technical leadership on complex technology issues across the organisation
n
Mentoring engineers and contributing to their ongoing technical growth
n
Supporting hiring and helping build high-performing, psychologically safe engineering teams
n
Partnering with product managers to ensure engineering initiatives support strategic business objectives
n
Maintaining high standards of code quality, testing, security, reliability and performance
n
Driving continuous improvement through incident response, post-mortem analysis and ongoing optimisation
n
Researching and implementing emerging technologies where they can improve engineering outcomes
n
