Permanent full-time position Level 5 Officer: $107,079 to $111,853 per annum (FTE) plus superannuation Based at Hilton On-site car parking Monthly rostered day off About the role As our Management Accountant, you will be a trusted financial partner to business units across Council.
You will provide practical advice and meaningful financial insights that support informed decision-making, effective service delivery and Council's long-term financial sustainability.
This is a varied role for a finance professional who enjoys combining technical accounting with business partnering and systems improvement.
You will contribute to budgeting, financial reporting, reconciliations and long-term financial planning while helping employees across Council make effective use of our financial systems.
What you will do Your key responsibilities will include: building productive relationships with nominated business units and providing clear, practical advice on budgets, budget reviews and other financial matters contributing to the annual budgeting process and quarterly budget reviews supporting month-end processes, Council's Long Term Financial Plan and the preparation of annual financial statements maintaining the grants register and ensuring grant revenue is recognised in accordance with relevant accounting standards preparing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and maintaining accurate supporting documentation supporting the administration and continuous improvement of TechnologyOne CiA, including system configuration,
report development using XLOne and user acceptance testing developing clear financial system guidance and delivering training that improves employees' confidence and experience identifying opportunities to strengthen financial processes, reporting and systems.
About you You enjoy working with people across an organisation, understanding their needs and providing advice that helps them make well-informed financial decisions.
Robust working relationships, professional judgement and clear communication are important capabilities within the City of West Torrens' financial services roles.
You bring strong numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills, together with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
You can investigate financial information, identify issues and recommend practical solutions while balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
You are comfortable working independently and contributing as part of a collaborative team.
You are also confident learning and improving financial systems and helping users understand financial information, processes and reporting tools.
Essential requirements To be considered for this position, you must have: a Bachelor of Accounting, Business or another relevant discipline a National Police Clearance issued within the previous 6 months, or the ability to obtain one as part of the recruitment process.
Applicants with membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is desired but not essential.
