Mater Hospital Brisbane is looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Urology Nurse to join our Planned Care - Urology team in the Prostate Cancer Specialist role, providing leave coverage for an 11-month maximum term full time contract.

Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing
n
The Prostate Cancer Specialist nurse has exceptional experience in Urology nursing, demonstrating the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team providing support and clinical leadership across Mater Health Brisbane.
n
n
Providing specialty-specific support and resources to staff and patients diagnosed with Prostate cancer throughout the continuum of care
n
Work within the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams
n
Provide high-quality patient care, reliable information and education for patients and their families
n
Liaise with scheduler/s to ensure appropriate timing procedure/surgery dates of patients who are deemed ready for care
n
Coordinating care throughout the patient journey ensuring access to services and appropriate follow-up in place
n
Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
n
Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment,
assisting/negotiating
sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding
n

About you
n
To be considered for this role, you will have current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse (no restrictions) and at least 5 years
surgical/urological/oncology
nursing experience.
n
n
High levels of communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
n
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal patient outcomes
n
Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
n
Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills
n
Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and staff members
n
Ability to contribute to departmental research activities
n
