Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor

ConsultANZ is looking for a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join a leading construction company in Sydney on a permanent basis. This role is essential in ensuring workplace safety and compliance, providing expert guidance to the construction team on health, safety, and environmental matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations, legislation, and company policies.
n
Review and update procedures to maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
n
Provide expert advice on accident prevention and workforce health initiatives.
n
Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety standards and management systems.
n
Implement and maintain site safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
Conduct routine site inspections to identify risks and enforce safe work practices.
n
Assist in hazard identification and risk assessments.
n
Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and timely reporting.
n
Develop and maintain emergency response plans tailored to site conditions.
n
Deliver HSEQ feedback and actionable recommendations to project teams.
n
Report all incidents to the HSE Manager within the required timeframe (30 minutes).
n




Lead safety meetings and maintain effective communication with regulatory authorities.
n

REQUIREMENTS
n
n
Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
n
Minimum of 5 years' experience in an HSE advisory role.
n
Prior exposure to civil construction or mining environments is highly desirable.
n
Working knowledge of ICAMS (Incident and Compliance Management System).
n
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
n
Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
n
Self-driven, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
n
Confident in delegating responsibilities and ensuring outcomes are delivered on time.
