Senior Financial Accountant — CBD | National Multi-Site Business | IFRS 16 SAP Permanent role | $130,000 + super + bonus benefits, negotiable National retail brand - be part of their growth and transformation journey Hybrid working | 2 days WFH | CBD location This is an opportunity to join a well-established national organisation where Finance plays a critical role in supporting operational performance, investment decisions and sustainable growth.
You will work in a dynamic, commercially focused environment, partnering with operational and corporate stakeholders to deliver accurate reporting, strong controls and meaningful financial insight.
About the Role Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be a key member of the Financial Accounting team.
This is a varied, hands-on role with responsibility across month-end reporting, IFRS 16 lease accounting, inventory, fixed assets, compliance, and audit coordination.
You will work closely with Finance, Operations, senior leaders and broader corporate stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and commercially meaningful.
Your responsibilities will include: Owning key monthly financial accounting, general ledger and period-end reporting activities Reviewing and finalising monthly profit-and-loss reporting, including variance analysis and commentary Preparing and reviewing general ledger reconciliations, journals, movement analysis and supporting schedules Managing and maintaining IFRS 16 lease-accounting models for existing, renewed and newly acquired sites Preparing IFRS 16 journals, reconciliations, movement analysis, judgement papers and supporting assumptions Maintaining accuracy of lease data across finance, operational and lease-management systems Supporting commercial analysis and business cases for new sites, relocations and investment opportunities Reviewing monthly stocktake results,



following up discrepancies with operational teams and investigating inventory variances Reconciling system-reported margin data and supporting inventory-provision calculations and analysis Maintaining the fixed-asset register, including capitalisation, disposals, transfers, depreciation and reconciliations Supporting capital-project expenditure accounting in line with accounting standards and company policy Assisting with internal and external audits, year-end reporting and financial-statement preparation Maintaining process documentation, controls and compliance across finance activities Partnering with stakeholders across Finance, Operations and corporate functions to resolve issues and drive improvements Contributing to ad hoc projects, process improvements and other finance initiatives as required About You You are a commercially minded Financial Accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operational environment.
You can confidently manage technical accounting requirements while building trusted relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
You will bring: A bachelor's degree in accounting, Commerce or a related discipline CA or CPA qualification At least five years' relevant financial-accounting experience Strong knowledge and practical application of IFRS 16 lease accounting Experience with lease-management software and SAP experience Demonstrated experience across month-end reporting,



general ledger reconciliations and financial controls Inventory-accounting experience, including stock reconciliations, COGS/margin analysis and provision calculations Fixed-asset accounting experience, including capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, transfers and register maintenance Strong Excel skills, including financial modelling, analysis and reconciliation capability Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and a working understanding of Australian tax requirements Experience working with auditors and supporting audit and year-end reporting processes Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear reporting and commentary A proactive, analytical and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to identify trends, anomalies and improvement opportunities Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to work effectively with finance, operational and corporate teams Why You'll Love This Opportunity Join a recognised national organisation with a strong multi-site footprint Play a visible role in supporting operational performance and investment decisions Broad technical accounting scope across leases, inventory, fixed assets and reporting Partner with senior stakeholders and contribute to commercial and capital-investment decisions Hybrid working arrangement — 2 days WFH Competitive remuneration, bonus opportunity and employee benefits Supportive, cooperative finance leadership and a culture that values continuous improvement How to Apply Please apply by submitting your resume (in Word format) via the "Apply Now" tab to be considered for this role.
