Newly created role with business-wide inventory ownership Regulated FMCG manufacturing environment Drive inventory accuracy, controls and continuous improvement Our Client Our client is an established Australian manufacturer and supplier of health-related consumer products, with domestic and international operations.
Operating within a fast-paced, regulated FMCG setting, the organisation manages a diverse product portfolio across manufacturing, warehousing, external co-packers and third-party supply-chain partners.
Following changes to its business structure and operating model, the company is creating a Senior Inventory Controller/Inventory Manager position to strengthen inventory governance, improve stock integrity and establish consistent controls across the organisation.
The Role This is a hands-on, business-wide inventory leadership role responsible for establishing effective inventory controls across Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production and Warehousing.
You will take ownership of inventory accuracy across raw materials, work in progress and finished goods.
Your focus will include cycle counting, stocktakes, variance investigation, ERP reconciliation, SLOB reduction and the implementation of standard inventory-control processes.
Working closely with Supply Chain, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Finance, Procurement, Quality and external co-packers, you will identify the causes of inventory losses and introduce sustainable corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities Act as the business lead for inventory control across all products and locations.
Design and implement effective inventory-control processes across Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production and Warehousing.
Develop and manage cycle-counting and stocktake calendars across internal and external locations.
Reconcile physical stock counts against ERP records and investigate inventory variances.
Ensure approved inventory adjustments are accurately recorded in SAP and NetSuite.
Conduct and reconcile stocktakes covering raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
Identify the root causes of stock losses and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Manage inventory held by co-packers, third-party providers and consignment locations.
Lead monthly SLOB reporting and develop actions to minimise obsolete stock, expiry risks and write-offs.
Develop and maintain reject, destruction and inventory-adjustment processes.
Produce accurate monthly inventory reports and KPI analysis for management and Finance.
Document and standardise procedures, providing training and coaching to relevant stakeholders.
Lead continuous-improvement projects that strengthen inventory integrity and reduce financial loss.
About You At least five years' experience in inventory control, inventory management or materials planning.
Demonstrated experience within food, pharmaceutical, complementary medicine or a similarly regulated FMCG manufacturing environment.
Hands-on responsibility for raw materials, WIP and finished-goods inventory.
Experience managing large SKU volumes across multiple locations.
Strong knowledge of cycle counting,
physical stocktakes and inventory reconciliation.
Experience investigating variances and conducting root-cause analysis.
Sound knowledge of FIFO/FEFO, JIT, ABC classification and inventory-accuracy principles.
Demonstrated experience managing SLOB, obsolete inventory and write-off reduction.
Strong ERP capability, ideally including SAP and NetSuite.
Advanced Excel, reporting and analytical skills.
Experience working with co-packers, subcontractors, consignment inventory or 3PL providers will be highly regarded.
Strong communication, stakeholder-management and influencing skills.
A relevant tertiary qualification in supply chain, operations, business or a related discipline.
