This opportunity is for a casual position supporting a participant in a 1:1 Supported Independent Living (SIL) setting. The successful candidate must have good availability, including active night shifts, weekends, and flexible hours, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position for the right person.

About the Opportunity
n
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to a participant in a 1:1 SIL setting, assisting them both at home and within the community while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and control.
n
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Providing 1:1 support in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
n
Assisting with daily living activities and personal support.
n
Building positive, professional relationships with the participant.
n
Supporting attendance at appointments and community outings.
n
Assisting with community access, including shopping and recreational activities.
n
Completing household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
n
Maintaining a protected, clean, and organised home environment.
n
Completing accurate shift notes and incident reports.
n
Supporting the participant to achieve the goals outlined in their NDIS plan.
n
Providing support during active night shifts, remaining awake and responsive throughout the shift to ensure participant safety and wellbeing.
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Prefer Female applicant only
n
Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening Clearance) or willingness to obtain one.
n
Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain one.
n
Current driver's licence.
n
Your own reliable vehicle with comprehensive or third-party property insurance suitable for transporting participants.Clear English speaking and communication skills.
n
PEG trained and/or experienced.
n
Suction trained and/or experienced, including experience supporting participants with dysphagia.
n
Manual handling trained and/or experienced.
n
Strong understanding of person-centered and trauma informed support practices.
n
Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient while supporting participants with complex behaviours and emotional regulation needs.
n
Full working rights within Australia.
n
Availability to work weekends, flexible shifts, and active overnight shifts when required.
n
n
Desirable (but not essential)
n
n
Certificate III or higher in Individual Support, Community Services, or a related qualification.
n
Experience supporting participants with complex or high-intensity needs.
n
Expereince implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and Behaviour Support Plans.
n
Previous experience in disability support or a similar role.
n
Strong English communication skills and ability to build rapport with participants.
n
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.
