About RGS Environmental Consultants RGS Environmental Consultants is an established environmental consultancy providing specialist environmental services to clients across the mining, mineral processing and industrial sectors.
Our services cover a broad range of environmental disciplines, including environmental management, mine water and waste management, environmental geochemistry, contaminated land, rehabilitation and mine closure, environmental monitoring, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join our Brisbane team and support the management and delivery of environmental consulting services across a diverse portfolio of client projects.
About the Role The Environmental Manager will be responsible for developing, coordinating and overseeing environmental management strategies and consulting services across multiple client projects.
The position requires strong capability in environmental planning, compliance management, risk assessment, environmental performance evaluation and multidisciplinary project coordination across mining, industrial and infrastructure-related environments.
Key Responsibilities ·Develop, implement and review environmental management strategies, policies, practices and action plans to support sustainable development outcomes for client operations and projects.
·Coordinate and oversee environmental management activities including pollution control, waste management, recycling initiatives, environmental health, conservation programs and resource efficiency measures to ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
·Manage environmental consulting projects and programs, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, budget, timelines, quality standards and environmental performance objectives.
·Conduct, coordinate and review environmental impact assessments and risk assessments to identify, evaluate and reduce environmental risks and associated financial and operational impacts.
·Audit, analyse and report on environmental performance data and compliance outcomes for internal stakeholders, clients and regulatory authorities.
·Collect, review and interpret environmental data including monitoring results, emissions data, meteorological information, soil and water quality data, and other environmental indicators to assess environmental conditions and performance trends.
·Review and interpret environmental monitoring data and assessment findings to identify environmental risks, evaluate project impacts and support practical environmental management decisions.
·Prepare and review environmental management plans, compliance reports, technical assessments and environmental documentation for clients, regulators and internal stakeholders.
·Provide professional environmental advice to clients, regulatory agencies and project teams on environmental legislation, compliance obligations, environmental risk management and sustainability practices.
·Promote environmental awareness and provide guidance, training and support to staff, contractors and stakeholders on environmental responsibilities, compliance requirements and best practice environmental management.
·Negotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated project costs, budgets, resources and commercial arrangements.
·Develop and contribute to resource management policies and environmental improvement initiatives to support long-term sustainability objectives.
·Liaise with local committees, government agencies, regulators and industry stakeholders on environmental and land management matters,
including approvals, compliance and environmental performance issues.
·Communicate technical and scientific environmental information through reports, briefings, workshops, presentations, training sessions and stakeholder engagement activities.
·Provide technical oversight, coordination and support to multidisciplinary project teams, environmental programs and consulting assignments across diverse industry sectors.
Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: 5+ years demonstrated experience in environmental project management, environmental compliance, risk assessment and environmental performance evaluation.
·Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks and industry environmental standards.
·Experience in preparing, reviewing and managing environmental reports, environmental management plans and compliance documentation.
·Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret environmental data and translate findings into practical environmental management solutions.
·Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage project delivery, budgets, resources and stakeholder expectations.
·Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, regulators, technical specialists and contractors.
