The business provides postal and related services, retail products, bill payment and other customer services, together with the sale of lottery products.
We are seeking a reliable and organised Accounts Clerk to assist with the day-to-day financial administration and accounting functions of the business.
Minimum requirement Minimum Bachelor qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, business or a related field; or relevant experience.
Experience of at least 2 years as a Accounts Clerk or in similar role Roles and Responsibilities Prepare, process and maintain documentation relating to accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Record and reconcile daily sales, receipts and payments arising from postal services, retail sales, lotto transactions and other business activities.
Reconcile POS, EFTPOS, cash and other payment records against daily transaction reports and accounting records.
Prepare and maintain records of daily takings, cash movements and banking transactions.
Assist with preparation of bank deposits and reconcile business bank statements with accounting records.
Process supplier invoices for postal products, retail merchandise, stationery, packaging and other business supplies.
Verify invoices, purchase records and payments and investigate discrepancies where required.
Process and record payments to suppliers and other business creditors in accordance with authorised procedures.
Monitor customer and supplier accounts and follow up outstanding balances where required.
Allocate expenditure and receipts to the appropriate accounting and budget categories.
Maintain accurate records of lotto-related receipts,
commissions, expenses and settlement transactions.
Reconcile lotto sales and settlement reports with internal records and identify and report discrepancies to management.
Maintain accurate records for postal services, retail sales and other revenue streams to support financial reporting.
Summarise daily, weekly and monthly expenditure and receipts for management review.
Assist with monitoring operating costs, including wages, utilities, supplier purchases and other business expenses.
Maintain organised financial documentation, invoices, receipts, transaction reports and supporting records.
Assist with payroll-related records and documentation, including checking timesheets and wage information where required.
Assist management and external accountants by providing accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Identify unusual or incorrect transactions and report financial discrepancies to management.
Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and confidentially in accordance with business procedures.
Perform other routine accounting and financial administration duties relevant to the operation of the post office and lotto business.
Skills Qualities Required: Robust attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions.
Experience with accounting software and computerised financial records.
Ability to reconcile invoices, sales records, receipts, banking and other financial transactions.
Good numerical, organisational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and business information.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records.
