The Victorian Department of Education is expanding the Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative to every government and low-fee school. A Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, a qualified teacher, will implement a whole-school approach to wellbeing across primary schools in the state.

Leaders will be trained in mental health literacy and supported through Learning Communities; the role focuses on prevention, identification and referral pathways, not direct clinical intervention.
