Job Description
Brisbane | Construction & Trades | Excellent Career Development Opportunity
n
Are you early in your HR career and looking for an chance where you can gain genuine exposure across the entire employee lifecycle instead of being limited to administration?
n
We are partnering with an established and growing Brisbane construction and trade services group looking to appoint an enthusiastic HR & WHS Coordinator to support its expanding workforce.
n
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a junior HR professional looking to accelerate their development. You'll work closely with senior management, project teams, site supervisors and an experienced WHS Advisor while gradually taking ownership of the day-to-day people function across the group.
n
Importantly, you don't need to know everything from day one. We're looking for someone with the right foundations, attitude and willingness to learn.
n
HR & WHS Coordinator
n
This is a genuinely broad HR position that will give you exposure to:
n
n
Recruitment, interviewing and onboarding
n
Employment contracts and position descriptions
n
Employee relations and performance management
n
HR policies, compliance and employee records
n
Award and EBA interpretation
n
Payroll support and employee changes
n
Training and professional development
n
Apprentice programs and coordination with RTOs
n
WHS systems, inductions and compliance registers
n
Incident and near-miss administration
n
Licence, ticket and certification management
n
HR and WHS reporting to senior management
n
n
You'll also work alongside an experienced WHS Advisor, allowing you to build valuable safety knowledge without being responsible for technical site-safety decisions.
n
About You
n
We're particularly interested in someone looking to build a long-term career in HR within the construction industry.
n
You may currently be an HR Administrator, HR Assistant, People & Culture Coordinator, Recruitment Coordinator or junior HR Advisor ready for more responsibility.
n
Ideally, you'll bring:
n
n
Some practical experience within HR, recruitment or people administration
n
A Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline - advantageous but not essential
n
Exposure to construction, trades, engineering or another project-based environment would be highly regarded
n
An interest in developing your knowledge of Awards, EBAs and employee relations
n
Strong administration and organisational skills
n
Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel
n
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with both office and site-based employees
n
A professional approach when dealing with confidential information
n
Plenty of initiative and a willingness to learn
n
n
Previous WHS experience is not essential. You'll be supported by the group's WHS Advisor while developing your understanding of safety systems and compliance.
n
Why This Role?
n
For someone at the beginning of their HR career, the biggest attraction is exposure.
n
Rather than spending the next few years specialising in one small area, you'll gain hands-on experience across recruitment, employee relations, performance, payroll, training, apprenticeships, compliance and WHS.
n
You'll report directly to senior management, have genuine responsibility and be given the opportunity to grow your capability as the business continues to expand.
n
It's an excellent stepping stone for someone who ultimately wants to develop into an HR Advisor, HR Manager or broader People & Culture position.
n
If you're ambitious, organised, enjoy dealing with people and want to kick-start your HR career within the construction industry, we'd love to hear from you.
n
All applications will be treated in strict confidence.
