Project Manager - Commercial / Industrial Construction

Location: Sydney

Hours: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Travel: Regular travel to site workplaces required

About the Opportunity
n
My Valued client respected leader in the industrial design and construction sectors currently seeking a dedicated and driven Project Manager to join their project delivery team. Operable out of Sydney, this full-time role focuses on managing standard to moderately complex industrial builds from inception to closeout.
n
In this role, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. You will work closely with site teams, consultants, and subcontractors while playing a key role in mentoring junior team members and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Project Execution & Management: Oversee 1-2 standard industrial projects concurrently, or assist a Senior Project Manager on a larger, complex build.
n
Planning & Scheduling: Develop, manage, and execute detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations. Identify risks, manage critical paths, and ensure compliance with design, safety, and Green Star requirements (where applicable).
n
Financial Management: Monitor budgets and project expenditures, prepare accurate financial reporting, address variances, and assist with subcontractor contract negotiations.
n
Stakeholder & Team Leadership: Lead site and project meetings (subcontractor coordination, commissioning, and client meetings). Work hand-in-hand with Site Managers, internal support teams, and external stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships.
n
Safety & Quality Assurance: Drive a strong safety culture in partnership with the safety team. Ensure all works meet strict quality specifications, statutory compliance, and operational standards.
n
Project Closeout: Direct end-to-end closeout processes, including inspections, commissioning, Green Star certifications, final handover documentation, and initial defects liability period management.

Key Requirements & Skills

Proven Experience: Practical experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects through full life cycles.
n
Strong Leadership: Ability to set direction, guide site teams, and mentor entry-level team members to support continuous operational excellence.
n
Organisational & Strategic Thinking: High-level planning capabilities with the ability to manage both short-term site demands and long-term project milestones.
n
Commercial & Financial Literacy: Solid grip on budget management, cost controls, variance tracking, and contract execution.
n
Exceptional Communication: Outstanding interpersonal skills with the confidence to manage clients, present professionally, and resolve conflicts constructively.
