About the Role:
n
We are seeking a dedicated Sports and Turf Maintenance Officer to support the maintenance of sports fields and a golf course to a high professional standard. This role involves applying horticulture and turf management skills, operating specialised equipment, and ensuring playing surfaces are safe, well-presented and maintained to required standards. Working within a team workplace, you will contribute to high-quality outcomes for sporting users, the public, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Maintain sports fields, turf wickets and golf course surfaces to required standards.
n
Undertake turf and horticulture tasks including mowing, brush cutting, fertilising, planting, weed control and sand/soil work.
n
Carry out turf renovation, renewal and maintenance works in line with programs and industry standards.
n
Assist with basic maintenance of sporting infrastructure such as irrigation, goals and synthetic surfaces.
n
Conduct basic audits and risk assessments and assist in implementing solutions.
n
Support cleansing tasks including rubbish collection and graffiti removal.
n
Use corporate IT systems as required and maintain accurate records of work completed.
n
Provide positive and timely customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
n
Ensure safe work practices and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
n
Contribute to a professional, respectful and safe workplace environment.
n




To have knowledge of turf management practices and machinery that relate to the maintenance of turf, including backhoe and kanga loader.
n
Assist with preparation, maintenance & set out turf cricket wickets and croquet greens as needed and inspect wickets regularly for readiness and suitability for play.
n
Assist in the preparation and cleaning of synthetic pitches and wicket covers in the seasonal change of sport.
n
Perform routine maintenance on sportsfield associated assets e.g. goal posts, boundary fences, spoon drains, harvesting & laying of turf sods and synthetic wickets.
n
Safe and competent driving of vehicles up to 13.9 tonnes GCM.
n
Assist in the installation, construction and maintenance of drainage and irrigation systems.
n
Assist in programming watering systems, marking irrigation heads, detecting and reporting faults.
n
Provide support to other areas of the Parks and Natural Environment Department.
n

Key Requirements:
n
n
Certificate 3 in Turf Management or relevant industry experience
n
Knowledge of turf management practices and machinery that relate to the maintenance of turf.
n
Relevant competencies in the safe operation of F.E.L
n
Knowledge in irrigation system operation and maintenance.
n
Knowledge of turf wicket and croquet green preparation.
n
Understanding of/or aptitude for maintenance and operation of machinery.
n
Completed White Card Training
n
Agricultural Chemical Users Certificate.
n
Front End Loader/Tractor accreditation.
n
