About the Role
n
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer - Platform & Architecture to shape the future of Trilogy Care's Databricks lakehouse platform - the foundation connecting our operational, financial, CRM, communications and workforce systems.
n
You'll drive key architecture decisions across scalability, governance, performance and cost optimisation, while setting engineering standards and mentoring the team. As a technical leader, you'll help answer "How should we build this?" and ensure our data platform is secure, reliable and ready to power AI, automation and smarter business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Design, evolve and maintain Trilogy Care's Databricks lakehouse architecture.
n
Define medallion layer structures, table formats, partitioning, clustering strategies and data lifecycle policies.
n
Document and communicate architecture decisions to ensure alignment across teams.
n
n
Unity Catalog & Data Governance
n
n
Design and maintain catalog and schema structures across production environments.
n
Manage data access controls, classification and governance standards.
n
Establish schema evolution practices and improve data discoverability.
n
n
Compute Strategy & Cost Optimisation
n
n
Define Databricks compute strategies, cluster policies and workload optimisation approaches.
n
Monitor and optimise platform spend across compute,



storage and ingestion.
n
Implement guardrails that balance cost efficiency with engineering velocity.
n
n
Engineering Standards & Technical Leadership
n
n
Establish best practices across code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation and development workflows.
n
Review architecture decisions and provide technical guidance on complex data challenges.
n
Mentor Data Engineers and help elevate platform capability across the team.
n
n
What You'll Bring
n
n
7+ years' experience in Data Engineering, with significant experience designing and building modern data platforms.
n
Deep expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and lakehouse architecture patterns.
n
Solid understanding of data modelling, governance, scalability and platform reliability.
n
Experience with Python, SQL and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent).
n
Proven ability to optimise data platforms for performance, reliability and cost.
n
Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering standards.
n
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly.
n
