Chief Financial Officer – Multi-Franchise Automotive Dealership Group

Gold Coast, QLD | Full-Time Executive Role

Package: $160,000–$180,000 + Commission + Company Vehicle
n
An established multi-franchise automotive dealership group operating across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its senior leadership team.
n
This is not a traditional back-office CFO role. We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded CFO who wants to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the dealerships and actively improve the performance of the business.
n
Automotive dealership accounting experience is essential.
n
The Role
n
Working closely with the Dealer Principal, General Managers and department leaders, the CFO will be responsible for the financial performance, cash flow, controls and commercial direction of the group.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Full oversight of group financial reporting, management accounts and balance sheets
n
Cash flow, working capital and treasury management
n
Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
n
Floorplan management and vehicle stock control
n
Monitoring ageing stock, inventory levels and funding costs
n
Reviewing profitability across New Cars, Used Cars, Service, Parts, F&I; and Administration
n
Identifying opportunities to increase gross profit and reduce expenses
n
Challenging staffing levels, overheads, subscriptions, suppliers and unnecessary costs
n
Supporting General Managers with practical, commercial decision-making
n
Monitoring dealership KPIs and identifying underperformance early
n
Improving internal controls, compliance and fraud prevention
n
Managing banking, lenders, external accountants and key financial relationships
n
Overseeing OEM/manufacturer financial reporting, incentives and funding requirements
n
Reviewing capital expenditure, acquisitions, expansions and major investments based on ROI
n




Leading and developing the finance and administration teams
n
Providing transparent financial information to managers in a practical, easy-to-understand format
n
n
AI, Automation & Business Efficiency
n
We are looking for a CFO who embraces AI, automation and technology as practical business tools.
n
The successful candidate will be expected to:
n
n
Use AI to improve reporting, forecasting and financial analysis
n
Identify repetitive administrative and finance tasks that can be automated
n
Use technology to reduce the overall cost of doing business
n
Improve productivity without simply adding additional staff
n
Review existing systems and processes and identify more efficient alternatives
n
Use data and AI to identify cost savings, risks, trends and profit opportunities
n
Help introduce smarter processes across finance and the wider dealership group
n
n
What We Are Looking For
n
The successful candidate will have:
n
n
Significant finance or accounting experience within a car dealership or automotive dealer group
n
Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and departmental profitability
n
Experience across New Cars, Used Cars, Service, Parts and F&I; operations
n
Strong knowledge of floorplan, stock management and dealership working capital
n
Excellent cash-flow management skills
n
Strong cost-control and commercial discipline
n
Ability to turn financial information into practical actions
n
Strong leadership and communication skills
n
Confidence working directly with Dealer Principals, General Managers and Department Managers
n




Experience challenging underperformance and holding managers accountable
n
Strong understanding of AI, automation and modern financial technology
n
Ability to identify where processes, costs or staffing structures can be improved
n
A practical, hands-on approach rather than purely corporate finance experience
n

Location Requirement
n
Applicants must be based on the Gold Coast or willing to permanently relocate to the Gold Coast.

This is an on-site position. The successful candidate will be expected to work within the dealerships, regularly engage with department managers and be actively involved in the day-to-day business.

$160,000–$180,000 base salary + Commission + Company Vehicle
