Structural Engineer - Site Inspections & Design

Modular Engineers is looking for a motivated Structural Engineer with approximately 2-3 years of Australian experience to join our growing engineering team.
n
This role would suit an engineer who enjoys being out on site, is confident dealing with builders and contractors, and also wants to continue developing their structural design skills.
n
A large part of the role will involve attending structural inspections across Sydney, so we are particularly looking for someone who is practical, reliable, confident on-site, and able to identify issues rather than simply tick boxes against drawings.

The Role
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
Carrying out structural inspections across residential and commercial projects
n
Reviewing structural drawings before attending site
n
Inspecting reinforcement, footings, slabs, structural framing and other structural elements
n
Identifying construction issues and non-conformances
n
Taking clear site photographs and maintaining proper inspection records
n
Communicating professionally with builders, contractors and clients
n
Discussing site issues with the senior structural engineer where required
n




Preparing inspection reports and supporting documentation
n
Assisting with structural calculations and design work when required
n
Working closely with our structural engineers and drafting team
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who has:
n
Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
n
Approximately 2-3 years of structural engineering experience
n
Australian engineering or construction experience preferred
n
Good understanding of structural drawings and construction detailing
n
Understanding of relevant Australian Standards and construction practices
n
Robust attention to detail
n
Good written and verbal communication skills
n
Confidence communicating with builders and contractors
n
Ability to manage several site inspections during the day
n
Good judgement and willingness to elevate an issue when unsure
n
Australian driver's licence and ability to travel to sites throughout Sydney
n
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, professional, willing to learn, and takes ownership of their work.
