At Vanilla Blue we are re-imagining the typical school canteen with our inspiring, nourishing and freshly prepared seasonal menu selection. We ensure the school canteen becomes the heart of each school and a hub of activity serving great food enjoyed by both students and staff every day.

We are seeking two Part-time Cooks in Strathfield, to join our teams in our school canteens. The role is perfect for a cafe, canteen professional with children or a local who wants school holidays off, or someone looking for a better work life balance.

Days: Monday to Friday
n
Hours: 38 hours/week
n
Pay: $35/hour + super
n
Term-based: ***** weeks/year
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Menu preparation: Prepare and pack hot meals, daily core menu items, and seasonal specials
n
Stock management: Ordering, rotation, and stocktaking
n
Catering: Onsite canteen catering and small events as required
n
Work in a fast-paced, process-driven, line cooking setting
n
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
n




Knowledge of various dietary requirements
n
Good time management and punctuality
n
Efficient kitchen operations: Follow operational timelines, manage COGS, and maintain food safety standards
n
Seasonal, cafe style menu
n
Convenient Strathfield location with nearby public transport and street parking
n
Uniforms provided
n
About you
n
At least 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, café, catering or other high volume food environment
n
The ability to work efficiently under pressure and at pace
n
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
n
Strong attention to detail and a positive, reliable attitude
n
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
n
School or canteen experience will be highly regarded
n
Successful candidates will need a Working with Children Check, Food Handling Certificate and Food Allergens certificate. Our recruitment process includes a half-day trial and reference checks.
