Step into a rewarding critical care nursing role with one of Australia's dedicated veterinary ICU teams. Pet ICU Underwood is looking for an experienced Part-Time Core Pet ICU Nurse to support the delivery of exceptional care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
n This is an opportunity to work with advanced critical care cases while working alongside experienced ECC veterinarians and nurses.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Deliver high-quality nursing care to ICU and emergency patients
n
Monitor complex cases and provide ongoing patient assessment
n
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital protocols
n
Care for critically unwell patients and perform or assist with advanced nursing procedures, including but not limited to:
n
High-flow nasal oxygen therapy
n
Feeding tube placement and management
n
Advanced vascular and arterial access and management
n
Advanced airway care
n
Mechanical ventilation
n
Advanced cardiopulmonary care
n
Communicate effectively with clients and the veterinary team
n
Provide strong clinical leadership during shifts, supporting and mentoring junior nurses while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
n
Champion exceptional patient care through teamwork, communication and adherence to ICU best practices
n
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and infection control
n
n
What We're Looking For
n
n
Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
n
Minimum 2 years' experience in ICU, ECC or a similar critical care workplace
n
Strong organisational and communication skills
n
Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy clinical setting
n
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
n
Strong leadership skills with a team-first approach and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes
n
ECC qualifications, Elevate ECC participation, or additional critical care training will be highly regarded but are not essential
n
n
The Roster
n
n
Part-time position with 40 hours per fortnight, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts
n
14 shifts across a 4-week roster with rotating starts at 5:00am, 1:00pm and 9:00pm
n
Includes weekends and public holidays
n
n
