Job Description
The Role:
n
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a team of 9 in building and scaling an automated patching factory to keep 250+ microservice APIs secure, up to date and vulnerability free.
n
This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining Java, Spring Boot, API engineering, AI and automation to improve software quality and security at scale.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Lead a team of 9 engineers to build and scale the automated patching factory.
n
Lead the pilot and scale the solution across 250+ APIs.
n
Develop reusable regression testing and automated quality frameworks.
n
Automate Spring Boot patching and vulnerability remediation using Renovate.
n
Complete the remaining Spring Boot 3 to Spring Boot 4 migrations.
n
Drive AI-first engineering practices across the Integration Centre of Excellence.
n
Establish engineering standards across development, testing, security and CI/CD.
n
Provide hands-on technical leadership across APIs, AI and automation.
n
Provide technical guidance to engineering, SRE and support teams.
n
Support critical incidents, releases and Level 3 technical issues.
n




Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.
n
Transition the patching factory to Level 3 support upon completion.
n

Skills & Experience:
n
n
Extensive software engineering experience, particularly in integration.
n
Deep hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience.
n
Experience leading Java-based microservices in complex environments.
n
Solid experience with Kubernetes and cloud-based microservices.
n
Knowledge of event streaming and high-throughput, low-latency integration.
n
Practical experience using AI coding assistants across the SDLC.
n
Ability to create effective AI prompts, workflows and engineering guidance.
n
Experience establishing technology and engineering standards.
n
Strong knowledge of testing, CI/CD, DevOps, observability and production support.
n
Experience across system integration and Agile delivery.
n
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
Experience working across onshore and offshore teams.
