Software Engineer - Business Systems (Automation & Integrations)

We're looking for a Software Engineer to architect, build, deploy and improve a custom internal enterprise platform that will power our end-to-end operations. The system will enable Maxum Foods to be agile and nimble in responding to customer feedback and continuously innovating to bring ideas to life.

The Prospect
n
You will design and build a modern internal business platform covering:
n
Inventory and stock management
n
Purchasing and supplier workflows
n
Manufacturing work orders
n
Picking, packing, dispatch and delivery
n
Route planning, tracking and proof of delivery
n
Business reporting and operational dashboards
n
Your mandate is clear: Improve customer experience. Reduce manual work. Increase visibility and operational efficiency.
n
You will work directly with leadership and operational teams to translate real-world processes into reliable, automated systems.
n
What You'll Do
n
Architect and build internal systems using AI-assisted development tools and structured prompting
n
Design automation workflows and intelligent agents to streamline operations
n
Build and maintain APIs and third-party integrations (logistics, mapping, accounting, CRM)
n
Review, validate and productionise AI-generated code
n
Implement CI/CD, monitoring,



backups and deployment processes
n
Ensure data integrity, idempotency, retry safety and consistent system behaviour
n
Design security, permissions and audit controls appropriate for business-critical systems
n
Own ongoing iteration, performance optimisation and operational stability
n
You will be responsible for systems that the business runs on daily.
n
About You
n
You are commercially minded, systems-oriented and comfortable owning production environments. You likely have:
n
Experience building and deploying production web applications (frontend + backend)
n
Strong experience using AI-assisted coding tools in real-world systems
n
The ability to guide AI through structured prompting and validate outputs rigorously
n
Experience designing APIs and integrations (REST, webhooks, third-party services)
n
A solid understanding of modern web architecture and cloud deployment
n
Confidence debugging, reviewing and improving generated code
n
Experience owning systems post-deployment (monitoring, reliability, iteration)
n
Exposure to manufacturing, logistics, or operational workflows (highly regarded)
n
You are comfortable with ambiguity, validate quickly with users, and iterate toward practical outcomes.
