About the Opportunity
n
Reporting to the Senior Ranger, the Ranger is responsible for delivering a high standard of community education, compliance and local law enforcement services throughout the Shire of Denmark.
n
This position is offered on a 12-month maximum-term contract to cover a period of parental leave and provides the opportunity to work in a varied and rewarding role that contributes directly to community safety, environmental protection, and responsible community behaviour. There is also the possibility of extension.
n
The successful applicant will be a positive team member with a strong customer focus, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing professional and consistent ranger services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Undertake proactive and reactive ranger patrols throughout the district.
n
Enforce and administer relevant legislation, regulations and local laws.
n
Respond to customer requests, complaints, enquiries and correspondence.
n
Issue infringements and provide verbal and written warnings as required.
n
Conduct firebreak and hazard inspections.
n
Undertake animal control and management activities, including dogs, cats, livestock and snake handling.
n
Support educational programs relating to ranger services within the community.
n
Prepare reports and maintain accurate compliance records.
n
Monitor Council reserves and public spaces to ensure appropriate use.
n
Participate in the Ranger Services on-call roster.
n
Assist other Shire departments as required and contribute to a positive team culture.

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have -
n
n
High level of customer service to provide community education and law enforcement in Local Laws, Acts of Parliament and Regulations.
n
Experience in a compliance, regulatory, investigative or similar role.
n
Well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
n
Sound judgement, integrity and discretion when exercising statutory powers or dealing with sensitive matters.
n
The ability to interpret and apply legislation and prepare reports.
n
Solid organisational and time management skills.
n
Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
n
Confidence to undertake field duties, animal handling, inspections, evidence collection, record keeping and computer-based administration.
n
A current C Class Driver's Licence.
n
Current National Police Clearance or the ability to obtain.
n
The ability to pass a pre-employment medical,
including drug and alcohol screening.
n
Must be able to participate in a week on/week off on-call roster.
n
n
Desirable
n
n
Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills (ROCS) 1 and 2 qualifications.
n
Experience in Ranger services, local government compliance, law enforcement, animal control, or another public-facing regulatory role.
n
Ability to obtain a firearms licence.
n
Completion of accredited snake handling training.
n
n
