Darebin City Council is seeking an experienced Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join our People & Culture team.
n
This is an opportunity to use your occupational health and safety expertise to make a genuine impact across Council, providing trusted advice to leaders and employees and contributing to a strong, proactive safety culture.
n
About the role:
n
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing you will:
n
Provide expert safety advice
n
Provide practical, accurate OHS advice to leaders and employees, interpreting and applying relevant legislation and safety requirements across Council.
n
Drive safety improvement and compliance
n
Support the ongoing development and improvement of Council's Safety Management System
n
Analyse and provide safety insights
n
Maintain OHS statistics and trend analysis, preparing meaningful reports, insights and recommendations that support effective decision-making, leadership and governance.
n
Support incident management and risk reduction
n
Partner with leaders to undertake incident investigations, identify breaches or potential breaches of legislative requirements, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions
n
Lead safety initiatives and projects
n
Contribute to the delivery of safety activities including training, projects, ergonomic assessments, policy development and implementation of new legislation and organisational requirements.

Build strong partnerships
n
Partner with leaders,



managers and teams across Council to promote proactive safety practices, strengthen capability and support a positive safety culture.

About you:
n
You enjoy being onsite, thriving face to face. You are a people focused OHS professional who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across a complex organisation.
n
You will be confident providing specialist advice, interpreting legislation, analysing safety data and translating your expertise into practical solutions. You will bring sound judgement, strong communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
n
You'll also bring:
n
Demonstrated experience providing occupational health, safety and wellbeing advice within a multidisciplinary organisation
n
Demonstrated experience conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations and incident analysis
n
Experience analysing safety and wellbeing data and delivering meaningful insights and recommendations
n
Demonstrated experience leading and delivering safety, wellbeing or organisational improvement programs and projects
n
Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and translate insights into practical improvement initiatives
n




Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organisation
