The Mechanical Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and mechanical systems across Knotwood Pty Ltd’s manufacturing facility.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The position works collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to deliver consistent and high-performing manufacturing outcomes.

Task & responsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance & Support
Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on production machinery and equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions
Assist with breakdown response to minimise operational downtime
Installation & Commissioning
Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency
Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the production setting
Support lean manufacturing and optimisation activities
Technical Support
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
Provide technical support to production teams as required
Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements
Comply with company policies, procedures, and quality standards
Participate in safety inspections, audits, and hazard reporting
Qualification & experienceEssential
Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality
Desirable
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Exposure to automated machinery or industrial equipment
Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and processes
