Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Hotel Accountant to join our Finance team, supporting ibis Sydney Barangaroo and Novotel Newcastle Beach.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an significant role in supporting the financial operations of both hotels, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

This is an excellent prospect for a motivated finance skilled to gain valuable exposure across two properties, work closely with operational teams and contribute to the hotels’ overall financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and process monthly financial reports and month-end closing activities in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and legislative requirements.
Oversee accounts payable and cashiering functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Assist with Profit & Loss reporting, budgeting and forecasting,



including monitoring financial performance against expectations.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies and company procedures.
Process accounts receivable transactions, monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue invoices.
Conduct financial and departmental variance analysis, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
Work closely with hotel operational teams to identify financial trends, risks and opportunities for improved commercial performance.
Support internal and external audit processes, including the preparation of required documentation, schedules and supporting information.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting efficiencies across both properties.
