Job Description
SMS Personnel is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant for a temporary assignment with a major Australian manufacturing business based in Kilsyth. The role is focused on product standard costing, inventory valuation and manufacturing cost analysis across a complex product setting.

The Role

Maintain product standard costs across business units and product databases.
n
Maintain cost models used to evaluate standard costs.
n
Support stocktakes and manage/report inventory valuation.
n
Review and prepare manufacturing recoveries.
n
Work with operations and engineers to establish standard costs for new product bills of materials.
n
Process standard-cost updates and stock adjustments.
n
Analyse and report product price variances.
n
Support product-obsolescence and slow-moving inventory analysis.
n
Assist with annual labour and overhead rate reviews.
n
Analyse manufacturing KPIs and contribute to business-process improvement.
n
Support landed-cost reporting and reconciliation to the general ledger.
n
Maintain and enhance ERP/BI reporting and prepare relevant month-end journals.

Requirements
n
n
Proven experience working as a manufacturing Cost Accountant.
n
At least four years' background and experience in costing.
n
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
n
Strong attention to product-cost detail and sound problem-solving ability.
n
Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
n
Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
n
Experience using ERP systems.
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational and finance stakeholders.
