Job Description
MACA is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to join our leadership team based in Welshpool.
n
Reporting to the General Manager – Maintenance Operations (Australia West), you will lead the strategic and operational management of the company's mobile plant assets, ensuring fleet reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness across all mining services operations.

Key result areas include:
n
n
Lead the development and execution of fleet and asset management strategies that maximise equipment reliability, availability, utilisation, and whole-of-life value across mining operations.
n
Provide leadership to maintenance workshop, field service, and asset management teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
n
Oversee the maintenance and lifecycle management of mobile plant and ancillary equipment, ensuring compliance, minimising downtime, and supporting operational delivery across multiple sites.
n
Develop and manage operating and capital expenditure budgets, delivering accurate forecasting, reporting, and recommendations to optimise asset investment and business performance.
n
Monitor fleet operating, maintenance, and inventory costs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and productivity.
n
Drive workforce capability through effective resource planning, succession planning, coaching,
and development to meet current and future operational requirements.
n

To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Diesel, Plant Mechanics, or related discipline.
n
Minimum 15 years' experience in mining, mining services, heavy industry, or related sectors.
n
Demonstrated experience managing large mobile plant fleets.
n
Proven leadership experience within maintenance and operational environments.
n
Experience developing and managing operational budgets and asset management strategies.
n
Strong understanding of maintenance management systems (JDE, Pronto, AMT, or similar).
n
Experience managing multi-site operations and dispersed workforces.
n
Proven ability to drive sound commercial outcomes.
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
n
Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
n
Proven ability to demonstrate strong business acumen.
n
Excellent organisation and planning skills.
n
Strong coaching, mentoring and change management skills.
n
