Senior Associate – Litigation | Complex Construction & Commercial Disputes

Level Playing Field Lawyers (LPF) is a specialist construction and commercial litigation firm based in Essendon. We act for builders, subcontractors, developers, owners corporations, insurers and private clients across Victoria and interstate.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Associate with at least 6 years post admission experience to join our growing disputes practice.
n
The Role
n
This is a senior role for a commercially minded litigator who is ready to take ownership of complex matters, provide strategic advice and mentor junior lawyers.
n
You will have a high level of autonomy, manage matters from start to finish and work closely with the Directors on significant and strategic matters.
n
Your work will include:
n
n
Construction and domestic building disputes in VCAT and the courts
n
Building defect, delay, variation and statutory warranty claims
n
Commercial and contractual disputes
n
Insurance and owners corporation disputes
n
Debt recovery and enforcement proceedings
n
Mediations, hearings, interlocutory applications and settlement negotiations
n
Briefing and working with counsel and construction experts
n
Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
n

About You
n
You will have:
n
n
At least 6 years post admission experience with a strong litigation background
n
Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation matters
n
Strong strategic and commercial judgement
n
Experience appearing in Courts and Tribunals
n
Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers
n
Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
n
Strong file, deadline and matter management skills
n
Experience in construction or domestic building disputes, VCAT and Victorian court proceedings will be highly regarded.
n

The role will initially be full time onsite at our Essendon office to support your onboarding and integration into the team, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid arrangement once established.
