Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION
n
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Equipment Trades Worker to install, configure, test, maintain and repair electronic equipment used in solar photovoltaic and battery storage systems.
n The position works principally with inverters, charge controllers, battery management systems, meters, sensors, communications gateways and remote-monitoring equipment.
n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n
Test electronic equipment and analyse fault codes, readings and monitoring data to identify system failures.
n
Diagnose faults in inverters, controllers, battery management systems, meters, sensors, communications equipment and associated control wiring.
n
Repair, adjust or replace defective electronic modules, components, connectors, sensors and wiring.
n
Assemble, install, configure and commission electronic equipment used within solar and battery installations.
n
Apply firmware updates, program operating parameters and calibrate equipment in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
n
Establish and troubleshoot communications between inverters, battery systems, meters, gateways and monitoring platforms.
n
Conduct operational and performance testing after installation, servicing or repair, including charge, discharge and backup testing where applicable.
n
Read schematics, technical drawings, specifications and service manuals to determine job requirements.
n
Undertake scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance of installed electronic equipment.
n
Prepare work orders, test results, equipment records, photographs and other required job documentation.
n
Explain system operation and basic fault-prevention procedures to customers at handover.
n
Maintain issued tools, electronic test equipment, spare parts and stock.
n
Assist apprentices and other technicians with technical matters where required.
n
Follow workplace health and safety requirements and perform regulated electrical work only within the scope of licences and authorisations held.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
n
n
A relevant AQF Certificate III supported by appropriate workplace training, AQF Certificate IV, or recognised overseas equivalent in electronics, electrotechnology or a closely related discipline.
n
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
n
Trade-level experience testing, diagnosing, repairing, installing and commissioning electronic equipment and systems.
n
Experience with inverters, battery management equipment, monitoring systems or communications hardware.
n
Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings and manufacturer documentation.
n
Competence using electronic test instruments and diagnostic software.
n
Any licence, registration or accreditation required for the work assigned.
n
Current driver's licence valid for driving in Queensland.
n
Strong safety awareness, record-keeping skills and customer communication.
n
Manufacturer training or accreditation in solar inverter, battery or monitoring products.
n
Experience with grid-connected, hybrid, backup or off-grid energy systems.
n
Familiarity with field-service or job-management software.
n
Experience assisting apprentices or junior technicians.
n

POSITION CONDITIONS
n
n
Full time employment based at the Robina office.
n
Regular travel to residential and commercial sites throughout Southeast Queensland.
n
