THE ROLE
n
The Principal Policy and Project Officer will lead strategic and complex policy and projects to strengthen the department's oversight and improvement practices with the community sector.Working in a senior capacity as part of a team, the Principal Policy & Project Officer will foster improved system performance and sustainability through:
n
n
identifying and escalating cross-program system improvement opportunities
n
leading cross-department projects to improve performance frameworks, policies and practices
n
supporting cross-department work to strengthen the Aboriginal-led services sector.
n
n
For example, this may include leading projects to:
n
n
assess agency and department performance measures, and standardise approaches to performance monitoring
n
improve central availability of meaningful performance information, through policy, practice and system change
n
align departmental efforts to support sustainable growth of the Aboriginal-led services sector.
n
n
This role requires an understanding of the organisational and service context, sound judgement and a highly collaborative approach. The Principal Policy & Project Officer will have excellent policy and project management knowledge with a proven track record of delivery, and highly developed leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
n
n
Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to ministers, the Secretary and other senior stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research, evidence, and stakeholder consultation.
n
Lead the delivery of policy, program and reform priorities across the division, including as required by temporarily taking on work from a different team, taking on a temporary assignment in a different team, or working in a different manner (e.g. a hybrid team structure).
n
Lead reviews of recoupment, performance oversight policy and practice, providing system level evaluation and investment reviews, and assessing department performance measures.
n
