Job Description
Wellmed Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced IV Nurse to join our healthcare team in Caulfield, VIC. This is a part-time position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential patient care. As an IV Nurse, you will play a vital role in our clinical operations, specialising in intravenous therapy administration and patient management. This position is strategically important to our service delivery, ensuring patients receive high-quality, safe and compassionate intravenous care in a professional medical environment.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Inserting, maintaining and managing peripheral and central intravenous catheters in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practice standards
n
Administering intravenous medications, fluids and blood products safely and accurately whilst monitoring patient responses
n
Assessing patient veins and selecting appropriate IV sites, adapting technique based on individual patient needs
n
Monitoring patients for complications related to intravenous therapy, such as infiltration, phlebitis and infection, and taking appropriate corrective action
n
Maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of all intravenous procedures, medications administered and patient observations
n
Collaborating with medical practitioners and the wider healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
n
Educating patients regarding their intravenous therapy, including care instructions and potential side effects
n
Ensuring infection control practices and maintaining a sterile environment during all IV procedures
n




Providing compassionate patient care whilst maintaining professional boundaries and respecting patient dignity
n

What we're looking for
n
n
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
n
Demonstrated experience in intravenous therapy administration and peripheral or central line management
n
Knowledge of pharmacology relevant to intravenous medication administration and understanding of drug interactions
n
Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills with the ability to identify complications early
n
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
n
Ability to work autonomously whilst maintaining high standards of patient care and safety
n
Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competency
n
Current First Aid and CPR certification
n
Immunisation requirements as per Australian healthcare standards (including COVID-19 vaccination)
n
Desirable: experience in acute care settings, oncology, or infusion centres
n
