About the Role:
n
We're looking for a proactive Sales and Account Lead to join our high-performing Business Events team. In this role, you'll drive new business and strengthen client relationships to position the Gold Coast as a premier business events destination.
n
You will generate and convert leads across key industry segments while managing strategic accounts to maximise long-term value. The role also involves hosting site inspections and famils, and attending tradeshows and sales missions, with some evening, weekend, and national/international travel required.
n
What You'll Do:
n
n
Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities across targeted industry sectors.
n
Build and implement commercial strategies to drive lead generation and conversion.
n
Manage and grow key client accounts to maximise customer lifetime value.
n
Prepare compelling destination proposals and bid submissions to secure business events.
n
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver seamless client experiences and strong event outcomes.
n
Represent Experience Gold Coast at tradeshows, sales missions, and industry events.
n
Host site inspections, famils and stakeholder engagements to showcase the destination.
n
Maintain accurate CRM records (including Simpleview) and track sales activity and performance.
n
Monitor market trends and provide insights to inform sales strategies and reporting.
n

What You'll Bring:
n
n
3+ years' experience in sales, ideally within the tourism or business events industry.
n
Demonstrated success in new business development and account management.
n
Robust understanding of the business events distribution system and sales lifecycle.
n
Experience in developing commercial strategies and driving measurable outcomes.
n
Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder and client relationships.
n
Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
n
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
n
Experience with CRM systems (Simpleview highly regarded) and reporting tools.
n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
n
A proactive, results-driven mindset aligned to Experience Gold Coast's values and culture.
