The opportunity
n
A well established Australian technology business operating in the B2B supply chain and electronic document exchange sector is deep into a significant platform transformation and needs an expert who can sit between the business and the development team, make the hard calls, and keep a complex, multi-phase build on track through to completion.
n
This is a technical product lead role for someone who has built and shipped real products in integration-heavy environments, and isn't intimidated by code or architecture diagrams.
n
This long-term, ongoing role is at the heart of continuous product development, with a genuine mandate to transform the EDI environment and the client offering.
n
What you'll do:
n
The build: Milestone accountability without micromanaging; scope, sequencing and resourcing calls backed by clear commercial rationale
n
The EDI domain: Trading partner connectivity at a technical level: message standards, VAN architecture, mapping complexity, and what it actually takes to migrate customers off legacy platforms
n
The bridge: Translating between what's being built and what the business needs it to deliver, and holding both sides accountable to that connection
n
The blind spots:



Challenging architecture decisions before they lock in; surfacing integration risk, dependency gaps and technical debt before they become problems
n
The scrutiny: Working alongside an experienced architect and a highly capable AI developer, you'll have the depth of technology expertise to read their work critically and enough credibility to push back and be heard
n
You'll need:
n
Proven hands‐on EDI/B2B connectivity experience: X12, EDIFACT, AS2, SFTP, and how trading partner networks really work.
n
A development background: you've written code, reviewed PRs, or led engineering teams at a level that holds up in an architecture review. You are fully conversant in a technical discussion.
n
A track record delivering a significant platform build or transformation: You know what a real delivery plan looks like and have managed scope and resourcing decisions under commercial pressure. Accountable for outcomes, not just outputs.

The presence to lead a room of engineers, a GM and board-level stakeholders: direct, clear, and unafraid to say when something's wrong
n
Highly desirable experience:
n
Australian healthcare or retail supply chain experience
n
GCP, Python, contemporary cloud-native integration architecture
n
Production exposure to AI/ML tooling
n
Subscription or usage-based billing model design experience
