About the role

Sharp & Carter is partnering with a leading Australian retail business to appoint an experienced Merchandise Planner. This is an exciting opportunity to join a merchandise team where you will play a critical role in driving sales, profitability, inventory productivity and business performance across a range of product categories.
n
Working closely with Buying, Supply Chain and senior stakeholders, you will utilise commercial insights, forecasting and inventory management expertise to influence key business decisions and optimise category performance.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Developing and maintaining merchandise financial plans, forecasts and budgets.
n
Analysing sales, profit, stock and inventory performance to achieve commercial targets.
n
Managing seasonal buy plans and determining optimal buy quantities.
n
Providing commercial analysis and recommendations to support buying decisions.
n
Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring stock is allocated effectively across the store network.
n
Conducting post-season reviews and identifying opportunities to improve future performance.
n
Managing markdown strategies, replenishment activities and aged stock performance.
n
Delivering insightful reporting and presentations to support strategic decision-making.
n
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Buying, Retail Operations, Distribution and Logistics.
n
Supporting and mentoring team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
n

About you:
n
n
A minimum of 3 years' experience within Merchandise Planning, Inventory Management or a related retail planning function.
n
Previous experience within retail, fashion, apparel, footwear or a similar consumer-driven environment.
n
Strong commercial acumen and a highly analytical mindset.
n
Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities, with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
n
Demonstrated experience in forecasting, budgeting and inventory optimisation.
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
n
A proactive and collaborative approach with the confidence to challenge, influence and drive outcomes.
