We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer for an established engineering consultancy in Orange, NSW.
n
This isn't a mining-focused geotechnical position. The emphasis is very much around buildings, foundations, structural loads and providing practical geotechnical advice that can be incorporated into structural design.
n
The role
n
You will take a senior technical position / hands on role, working closely with structural engineers, clients and other consultants across a variety of building-related projects.
n
Your involvement will include
n
n
Interpreting geotechnical investigations and providing clear, practical engineering recommendations
n
Advising structural engineers on foundation design, bearing capacities, settlement and structural loading considerations
n
Providing recommendations on suitable footing and foundation solutions
n
Reviewing ground conditions and identifying potential geotechnical risks
n
Preparing and reviewing technical reports
n
Working directly with clients and other engineering disciplines
n
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
n
Helping develop strong, long-term client relationships
n
Contributing to business development and identifying opportunities for further work
n

What we're looking for
n
n
Ideally, you will have around ***** years' geotechnical engineering experience, although capability is more important than an exact number of years.
n
You should have a strong technical background in building-related geotechnical engineering, particularly foundations and the interaction between ground conditions, structural loads and foundation design.
n
Just as importantly, you need to be able to communicate. The successful person will be comfortable sitting down with a structural engineer or client, explaining the geotechnical issues and recommending a practical way forward.
n
Previous leadership, mentoring or business development experience would be highly regarded, particularly if you're looking for a position where you can have greater influence over the direction of the geotechnical discipline.
