Job Description
Wilson industries are investing in the future of its manufacturing and engineering operations. We are seeking a hands on Manufacturing Improvement Manager to lead the systems, process, engineering and technology improvements that will build a more productive, scalable and data driven factory.
n
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a newly defined senior role with the opportunity to influence how Wilson operates for years to come.
n
This is not a traditional Production Manager position.
n
The Production and Manufacturing Manager is responsible for daily production output, labour allocation and shop floor execution.
n
You the Manufacturing Improvement Manager will focus on building and improving the systems, processes, technology and engineering capability that enables factory optimisation and continuous improvement.
n
This Opportunity

You will lead Wilson's manufacturing transformation agenda across:
n
n
Manufacturing productivity and continuous improvement.
n
Epicor Kinetic manufacturing and engineering systems.
n
Routings, work centres, BOM's, standard times and manufacturing data.
n
Engineering workflow, PDM and drawing/revision control.
n
DriveWorks and design automation.
n
Robotic welding and advanced manufacturing.
n
Laser manufacturing and automated material handling,
n
Factory layout, material flow and capacity improvement.
n
Capital projects, business cases and advantages realisation.
n
Change management, training and technology adoption.
n
n
You will directly manage the Manufacturing Engineer and provide functional leadership across manufacturing engineering, engineering systems and process improvement resources.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Identify and implement practical improvements in productivity, capacity, flow and labour efficiency.
n
Establish reliable manufacturing routings, work centres, standard times and work instructions
n
Lead the manufacturing and engineering process requirements for Epicor Kinetics.
n
Improve BOM, engineering and manufacturing master data accuracy.
n
Develop meaningful manufacturing dashboards and shop floor data capture.
n
Improve engineering to production workflows and design for manufacture practices.
n
Lead and implementation and adoption of PDM and DriveWorks for appropriate product families.
n
Improve drawing control, revision management, BOM generation and engineering turnaround times.
n
Develop business cases and lead implementation of automation, robotics and capital projects.
n
Improve factory layout, material flow, WIP visibility and equipment structured continuous improvement practices and measure the financial benefits delivered.
n
Lead communication, training and adoption of new systems, processes and technology.
n
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Procurement and the factory leadership team.
n

About You
n
You will be an experienced manufacturing improvement, manufacturing engineering and transformation leader who can combine technical depth with practical implementation capability.
n
You will bring:
n
n
Significant experience in manufacturing leadership, manufacturing engineering or continuous improvement.
n
Experience leading or managing an engineering or manufacturing team.
n
Proven ERP or MRP implementation experience in a manufacturing environment
n
Strong knowledge of routings, BOM's, work centres, standard times and manufacturing master data.
n
Demonstrated experience improving productivity, capacity, process flow and labour efficiency.
n
Experience with Lean manufacturing and structured continuous improvement.
n
Strong project management capability including capital equipment and technology implementation.
n
Experience leading organisational change and workforce adoption and new systems.
n
Commercial understanding of ROI, labour efficiency, capacity and capital justification.
n
The ability to communicate credibly with operators, tradespeople, engineers,
managers and senior leadership.
n
A practical, analytical and persistent approach to embedding change.
n
n
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous
n
n
Epicor Kinetics or another manufacturing ERP/MRP system.
n
SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM
n
DriveWorks or comparable design-automation software.
n
Engineer-to-Order or Configure-to-Order manufacturing.
n
Robotic welding, laser cutting or advanced fabrication.
n
Automated storage and retrieval systems or automated material handling.
n
Pressure vessels, tanks, HVAC, stainless steel fabrication or related engineering manufacturing.
n
Industry 4.0 or digital manufacturing technologies.
n
An engineering, manufacturing, operations or related tertiary qualification.
n
