About SmallPaws Pet Hotel Sydney
n
For over 34+ years, SmallPaws Pet Hotel has been a trusted boutique pet care destination for small dogs and cats in Sydney.
n
We are a family-owned, long-established business dedicated to providing a safe, loving and enriching "home away from home" for every guest in our care.
n
We're looking for an experienced Receptionist Manager to join our close-knit team. This is a varied, hands‐on role combining customer service, reception management, team coordination and animal care.
n
If you have experience in the animal care industry, enjoy working with people as much as animals, and thrive in a busy environment where no two days are quite the same, we'd love to hear from you.
n
About the Role
n
As our Receptionist Manager, you'll be an important link between our Guest's Owners and our small Animal care team.
n
You'll help ensure Reception runs smoothly, bookings and guest information are accurate, our team is well informed, and every pet parent receives warm and professional service.
n
This is not purely a desk‐based reception role. You will also work hands‐on with our small dog and cat guests, so confidence and previous experience in animal care are essential.
n
You'll work closely with our Boutique Managers and will need to be comfortable taking responsibility, prioritising tasks, delegating to Animal Attendants and helping the day run smoothly.
n
Reception & Management Responsibilities
n
n
Welcome dogs, cats and their families during arrivals and departures
n
Accurately record all relevant guest information in our booking system
n
Provide warm, professional customer service by phone, email and in person
n
Respond to enquiries regarding services, availability, bookings and guest care
n
Manage bookings and maintain accurate guest and customer profiles
n
Complete thorough check‐in and check‐out procedures
n
Review feeding instructions, medications, health information and special care requirements
n
Communicate clearly with the animal care team regarding each guest's needs, routine and personality
n
Assist with daily planning, guest lists and reception operations
n
Delegate appropriate tasks to Animal Attendants and help coordinate the team
n
Maintain a calm, organised and welcoming front‐of‐house environment
n
Identify issues early and communicate effectively with management
n
n
You'll work exclusively with small and toy dog breeds (10kg and under) and cats, providing thoughtful, attentive care throughout their stay.
n
To succeed in this position, you'll be someone who is dependable, organised and confident taking responsibility.
n
Previous experience in the animal care industry is essential.
n
You will also need:
n
n
Strong customer service and communication skills
n
Self‐motivated and ability to multi‐task
n
Fluent spoken and written English skills
n
Excellent attention to detail
n
Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy workplace
n
The ability to delegate and provide direction to Animal Attendants
n
High standards of cleanliness and animal care
n
A calm, friendly and professional manner
n
The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
n
Reliability and excellent time management
n
Availability to work weekends and during school holiday periods
n
A current driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle
n
The ability to commence shifts at 7:00 AM, and end at 4:00 PM
n
A genuine passion for providing exceptional care to small dogs and cats
n
n
Why You'll Love Working at SmallPaws
n
We believe that exceptional animal care starts with a team that feels supported and valued.
n
We offer:
n
n
Permanent Part‐time, four‐day week position, with either of the two following weekly roster to choose from;
n
n
– Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday OR Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
n
n
Above‐industry‐standard remuneration package
n
accrual of annual and personal leave
n
Annual bonus incentive
n
Paid lunch breaks
n
Weekend and public holiday penalty rates
n
Free pet boarding and discounted daycare
n
Ongoing training and career development
n
Opportunities to develop your knowledge of animal behaviour, health and enrichment
n
A beautiful, peaceful bushland working environment
n
A stable, long‐established family business
n
A supportive team who genuinely care about animals and each other
n
n
Is This You?
n
You may be a great fit if you already have experience in pet boarding, dog daycare, veterinary reception, animal care, grooming, kennels or a similar animal‐focused environment and are ready to take on greater responsibility.
n
We're looking for someone who notices the little things, communicates clearly, stays calm when things get busy and understands that excellent pet care requires both compassion and attention to detail.
n
Most importantly, you'll genuinely care about giving every SmallPaws Guest and their families an exceptional experience.
