About our role:
n
Northern Star Resources has an exciting prospect for a Geology Technician to work in our Hemi Project at Pilbara on 8 days on, 6 days off roster FIFO ex Perth with roster day being Thursday.
n
Your main responsibilities will include:
n
Process, sample and collect data from diamond drill core, including but not limited to:
n
n
Collecting core trays from drill sites.
n
Marking out drill core: metre and orientation mark-up.
n
Collection of geological data (e.g., Recovery, RQD, Specific Gravity, Magnetic Susceptibility).
n
Photographing of core trays.
n
Sawing of drill core and collection of samples as directed by the supervising geologist.
n
Drill core storage and retrieval.
n
n
Sample and collect data from Reverse Circulation, Blast Hole, Rotary Air Blast, Aircore and auger drillholes,



including but not limited to:
n
n
Surveying drillhole locations or grid lines using a GPS.
n
Assisting with the preparation of drill sites.
n
Sampling and data collection as directed by the supervising geologist.
n
Pick up of drillhole collar coordinates using a differential DGPS.
n
Assisting with the rehabilitation of drill sites
n
n
Also perform:
n
n
Field geochemical sampling as directed.
n
Data entry as required.
n
Sample pulp storage and retrieval.
n
n
Required skills and experience:
n
n
6 months - 12 months relevant experience in the mining and/or exploration industry
n
Current Manual Western Australian Drivers Licence mandatory should be confident with 4WD.
n
Current approved and recognised forklift ticket (desirable).
n
Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products.
n
Good communication skills, written and verbal.
n
Strong attention to detail, ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines.
n
Ability to work unsupervised as required.
n
Able to work as part of a team.
n
Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
n




Mechanical knowledge and skills (desirable).
n
4WD operation and recovery skills (desirable).
n
