About the Role
n
Smith & Co is partnering with established Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 civil contractors to recruit experienced Civil Leading Hands for long-term projects throughout Brisbane and surrounding regions. With significant workloads already secured, these permanent positions will see you involved in road infrastructure, bulk earthworks, and landfill projects. Current works are located across areas including Gympie Road, Yarrabilba, Redland Bay, Flagstone, and Toowoomba, providing the opportunity to work on substantial civil projects with contractors offering strong pipelines and future career opportunities. As a Leading Hand, you'll take an active role in coordinating crews and keeping day-to-day site activities running efficiently. Working alongside Supervisors, Operators, Labourers, and Subcontractors, you'll help maintain productivity, quality, and safety while ensuring works remain on schedule.

Salary: $100K–$120K + company vehicle
n
Shifts: Day shifts from 6:30am, with overtime available when required
n
Projects: Road infrastructure, bulk earthworks, landfill projects
n
Locations: Across Brisbane including Gympie Road,



Yarrabilba, Redland Bay, Flagstone, and Toowoomba
n

What We're Looking For
n
n
Demonstrated experience as a Civil Leading Hand or experienced Lead Labourer within civil construction
n
Positive knowledge of civil project delivery, including bulk earthworks, final trim, and general civil works
n
Confidence coordinating crews and organizing day-to-day site activities
n
Current White Card (relevant RII tickets highly regarded)
n
Practical, safety-focused approach when working across busy construction sites
n
Effective communication skills with the ability to work alongside multiple site teams
n
Comfortable remaining hands‐on and assisting crews when required
n
